Marble dust statue of Basavanna, Basaveshwara, also known as Basavanna, was a saint poet, social reformer and philosopher who fought against societal problems of the day, rose up against inequalities based on caste, class, and gender. He emphasized the dignity of labour, monotheism,and nonviolence while advocating and practicing the values of equality. His acknowledgement of women’s uniqueness and rights was one of his many contributions to the regeneration of contemporary tradition-bound society.His thought and teachings go beyond all boundaries, addressing the global and eternal.
